If you're reading this, you found my blog in one of three ways:
1) You follow me on social media. Insta (@rosiepburke.author) or Facebook (Rosie Burke's Racy Babes). I'm not really on anything else, so if you managed to find me from another social... this is probably the WRONG Rosie P. Burke for you!
2) You read one of my books and thought "Wow! This is something I could get into!" and then proceeded to look for any backlog I might have. That search would/could have led you here. I'm so freaking glad you found me!
I'm sure you could go to my "About Me" page and read all the jazz I put in there. I actually recommend that because it's a good time. Shi--- Fun time? You know what I mean! There's a lot you can learn about me in that section.
So, since I do have quite a bit already out there on this very website, I figured I'd take this post to share some fun random facts about me. If you think these are cool, interesting, or get a sense of "She's a lot like me!"... then maybe you want to check out my books. I try to infuse part of myself in the characters. From amusing quirks to fatal flaws; it's all there on the pages for you to read.
So... about me in 10 random facts:
I wrote my first romance novel at 11 years old. It was called "Duke and his Duchess." It was a high school sweet romance because what in the world did I know about love at 11? haha Nothing. And that book will never see the light of day since it was saved on a pre-historic Microsoft desktop, on a floppy disk, that has probably found a forever home in a landfill somewhere far far away!
I was published in an poetry anthology when I was 8. I was also a "Who's Who in HS" as well as the gifted and talented program in elementary school. And yes, I was recently diagnosed with ADD. So... #facts
I have traveled to 33 states in the US and 2 other countries. I want to travel more and my kids also have that bug. We've made a pact that they get to choose a place to go for an extended vacation for their 21st birthday. One chose Egypt and one chose Paris.
My kids' names are semi-literary. My daughter was named after a Jane Austen character. My son after the Greek Argonaut! (My husband says we named him after the original Red Ranger, so that sort of defines our personalities!)
I actually wanted to be a photographer. I went to a journalism conference in San Francisco when I was 15 and loved it. I wanted to travel the world, taking pictures of everything. I started my undergrad in the photojournalism department thinking I could learn the skillset I needed to take impactful images. Halfway through my first semester, I switched to Recreation & Sport Management. I still want to do photography part-time though.
I refuse to read, write, or watch anything scary/spooky. I am the ultimate chicken and wear that badge proudly. The worst experience I ever had was going to a haunted house with my then boyfriend-now husband. Our group got split up when we entered the HH. And by that, I mean he was able to walk through with all his friends and I was by myself. I spent the next thirty minutes crying.
I am a margarita girl. Well, iced tequila in any form is good by me! Also Amaretto. Cherry Rum and Cody Road Maple infused. All that to say, I don't really drink that often. I have a tradition of cracking open a single serve Strawberry-Lime margarita on the night I finish writing each book.
I have ADD, anxiety, and depression. All of these are lifelong battles. BUT, I found medications and solutions that work for me. FOR ME, caffeine works to balance my ADD so I have a running supply of Monster Lo-Carb or Zero Sugar energy drinks; BODi pre-workout as a daily drink I sip on, and Iced Tea with 2-3 Stevia packets. Sometimes I have Coca-Cola but I really try to avoid that one; once I have the first can/cup, I will definitely binge drink until there's no more in the house.
I prefer salty to sweet. Give me nachos fully loaded all day, every day. Kettle cooked jalapeno chips. Baked BBQ lays. Tortilla chips and salsa/queso/guac. Literally, all the chips.
My go to foods--the ones I will recommend 100% of the time when asked what I want to eat-- are tacos or a big juicy burger with fries. And sometimes it's tacos with fries on the side. The taco place near me has crinkle fries and I love them dearly for this.
**BONUS!!** I have 8 tats. A flower on each wrist for my sisters. A heart on each hip; they have different meanings--one for love and one for protection. One across my shoulder blades (literally half my back) and one across my lower back. A cross that I'm working to have covered up with a stack of books and the Chip cup from Beauty and the Beast. And a silhouette of Jane Austen with watercolor splatters everywhere. I have plans for a literary sleeve, but that takes time and money and talent. I'm on the lookout for all of those!
So those are the fun random facts about me. If you want something more substantial, check out the ABOUT ME page.
